“Wing Chun literally translates as ‘perpetual songs of springtime’. Believed to derive from a woman of the same name and a student of the Buddhist Nun Ng Mui.”

Curriculum

A closer look into Wing Chun reveals ways of understanding that are often complicated in study yet simple in nature. It is sometimes easier to express this knowledge through Art. Using the 5 Elements as a guide, learning as an individual or in a team is structured and comprehensive. Your achievements, however, remain the same.

Our curriculum is unique to The Yum Yeurng Academy, as it allow students who have completed the four set modules to continue with their training and progress as an Apprentice. The general Chinese Martial Art principles covered during one cycle of modules are Foundation, Form, Equipment and Sparring. This sequence of specialist development is a tried and tested scenario passed on from generation to generation. What we are saying is that a certified Foundation student has trained all four modules to complete his or her understanding, and when confident with their chosen techniques, they are assessed.

Each module can be learnt on its own, or side by side with another and Apprenticeships are available after completion of all four modules. Learning how to learn it all again isn’t as easy as it seems! With ideas and lesson plans flowing from a collection of Chinese characters, we are still developing ourselves!

Currently, students are required to complete a module within 18 hours of coaching. The training time you put in yourself is your own, ultimately deciding if you have good ‘gong fu.’

FAQ | 2008 | FAQ

Why use a curriculum like this? The Academy aims to coach to the highest standards, which means you will change if you’ve done any Martial Art before. ‘Jun Mo’ Wing Chun is known for being from Lee Shing lineage, and his curriculums were vast. We install the hard drive...

What’s the ‘best’ way? Each module is unique and we believe that all ways lead down the same path. As long as you’re eager to learn and train hard, it will be you who decides. Obviously an apprenticeship opens doors to study things more closely.
