HINTS | 2009 | TIPS
Fighting with control - The honest thing about sparring is that it is free only when an agreement is made. This means we agree on limits & technique then go for a few rounds at a time. With or without a watcher, or referee, time restrictions also apply and a 15 second rule is good for beginners.
Interactive sets - Each technique can be broken down into sets, enabling continual practice with a partner. Wing Chun Chi Sau, or ‘sticky hands’ is a product of this study. Hard and soft, we are talking of no winning or losing. Just a set to assist in understanding.
Competition - If you’re a competitor then this type of training may suit you. We generally hope that a good training spirit is achieved when there is a goal to win. However, constant repetitive training over longer periods is required if you want to succeed.
Train with many - This speaks volumes about your character.
